Meet The Photographer
How I got here
Photography has been part of my life for a long time. I built my business while earning my BFA in Photography from Belmont University in Nashville, where I also worked with brands and organizations throughout the city like The Nashville Entrepreneurship Center and their partner companies and the fashion brand, Sister’s of Nature. Those experiences gave me the opportunity to do work like shooting, content creation, styling, and marketing while learning to create in just about every kind of environment.
What started there eventually took me across the country and grew into a wedding photography career that has allowed me to photograph people and celebrations throughout California and the Southeast.
I’m Lauren Newman, a luxury wedding and lifestyle photographer based in California and the Southeast.
I’ve been photographing weddings for over a decade, and somehow I still genuinely love them. Not just because they’re beautiful, but because of everything happening within them. I love the excitement of the day, the people, the emotions, and all the little moments you couldn't have planned if you tried.
What matters most to me
I want you to have incredible photographs, of course! But I also care deeply about the experience you have while we're creating them.
My approach is a balance of direction when it's helpful and honest documentation when the moment is already perfect on its own, and an editorial eye throughout it all. Some of the most meaningful photographs can't be orchestrated and I believe in knowing when to simply let them happen.
What I love about this work? It’s getting to know people, making them feel comfortable in front of my camera, and preserving a season of their lives that will never look exactly this way again.
Outside of Photography
Over the years, photography has taken me coast to coast, but these days my favorite thing is being with my husband Bryce and our sweet boy, Brooks. I'm happiest spending time with them and our two rescue pups, traveling to explore somewhere new and inspiring, working on our home, discovering new music, or just planning another project before we've finished the last one.
All that to say, I know what it means to care deeply about the people in a photograph. That's ultimately what I want to give my clients, images that feel beautiful and timeless today, but become even more meaningful as the years go by.
